To help us give a party for homebound elderly
once a month
We’re speaking here about the Love Thy Neighbor Ministries’ Good Neighbor Get Together Program™.
The Good Neighbor Get Together program is designed to renew weary caregivers by giving them a chance to take a break from their 24/7 responsibilities for 3½ hours once a month while we care for their loved ones with a meaningful and enjoyable experience. With your help we will enable an exhausted caregiver to, for example, run errands, grocery shop, visit the doctor or dentist, go to the bank, attend prayer meetings or Bible studies, have coffee or a meal with friends, socialize with others or just rest.
The Get Together provides respite care for family caregivers through an activity program (a party) prepared for their loved ones who have Alzheimer’s disease. It will be held in the fellowship hall of Vistoso Community Church, 1200 E. Rancho Vistoso Blvd., Oro Valley for 3½ hours (from 10:00 to 1:30) once a month. The party will consist of games, singing, physical movement, socialization, crafts, entertainment, prayer and devotionals. Not every activity is included each time. The monthly Get Together will be centered on a theme, and a snack and lunch will be served.
In order to be able to offer this opportunity to family caregivers we need volunteers to help assist with simple games or crafts, serve a meal or just sit and talk with someone. We will provide you with training and direction. And we guarantee you will enjoy yourself!
